“Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful, and the end of mirth is heaviness and grief.” ~ Proverbs 14:13 AMPC
Mirth = gladness, merriment, laughter, joy.
Have you ever had a time when you excitedly anticipated something that didn’t happen? You expected someone to do something that they didn’t do? Sometimes we set ourselves up for sorrow and sadness. Some things we may hope from others, things we believe they will do, become an overblown expectation. Unfulfilled and grieved, it brings an end to joy. In those times, if we focus on that or make sure the person knows how they failed us, we bring sorrow to the day, even ruining the good memories made.
Thinking ahead to how things may go can help us be prepared for various situations, but we can’t rely on that. Seeking the Lord’s control and provision, even of right and good communication, is vital to protecting relationships and preserving memorable, joy-filled encounters.
Father, I pray You, let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable and honoring of You. Grant us life giving, joy producing, memories filled with love. In Jesus, amen.
