Have you noticed how often people of scripture tend to tell God how small they are? God calls, and we tend to see the journey in light of our own limitations instead of in light of His might and provision. But there is another tendency I believe more dangerous.
In this day and age we are told that we need to build the ego of the child. They should never feel small or lesser or be met with failure. We are supposed to help them feel sufficient in themselves. Problem being that when we have no sense of “but I’m only,” we are less likely to seek after God for our supply.
The solution? We must teach our children, “But God!” I may be small and feel inadequate, “but God” is for me. God is with me. God is my help and my supply.
Beloved, we best teach what we, ourselves live.
Father, deliver us from fear of the things that challenge us and make us feel small. Protect us from the tendency to think more highly of self than we ought. Grant us to KNOW that we CAN do all things through Christ’s strength, having the understanding that nothing is impossible for us because all things are possible with God. And equip us to train our children in godly confidence for all You call them to. In Jesus, make it so.
